Reported Safety Incidents

In Q2 2026: property incidents were 56% (38), violent incidents were 10% (7), vehicle crimes were 10% (7) and public order incidents were 10% (7).

Recorded crime here is grouped into violent crime, property crime (burglary and theft), vehicle crime and public order offences, so you can compare how safe each neighborhood is for the kind of crime that matters to you.

Places we left out, and places to read with care

Left out: Highland Bluff; Lakeside; Santa Rosa; South Hills; University Villas; Walden. They have almost no residents: their crimes are against visitors, so a rate per resident says little about living there.

Lynnewood Village (0.0 per 1,000 from 0 crimes among 131 residents), Woodgate (0.0 per 1,000 from 0 crimes among 162 residents), The Estates At Worthington Lake (7.3 per 1,000 from 2 crimes among 273 residents), Magnolia Pointe (0.0 per 1,000 from 0 crimes among 309 residents), South Highlands (0.0 per 1,000 from 0 crimes among 317 residents), The Myrtles (2.9 per 1,000 from 1 crime among 348 residents), Mayfair North (11.1 per 1,000 from 4 crimes among 361 residents), Staring Court (0.0 per 1,000 from 0 crimes among 367 residents) and Highland Creek (17.3 per 1,000 from 11 crimes among 636 residents) are places with few residents (under 3,000): a rate on so few people says little about living there, so they are not named as the lowest or highest.

Sources and notes

CrimesLog sources crime incident data published by the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) through the Open Data BR platform (data.brla.gov), containing public sector information released under a Public Domain licence.

Population: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates (public domain).

First-place medal: 1st Place Medal emoji icon by Icons8.

Neighborhood boundaries are defined by EBRGIS, City of Baton Rouge / Parish of East Baton Rouge (gaps between neighborhood areas filled to the nearest neighborhood by CrimesLog), grouped into Metro Council districts and simplified by CrimesLog. The photographs are credited under each picture.

Rates are recorded crimes per 1,000 residents, quarter by quarter; where a neighborhood has fewer than 100 residents the rate would be worked out on 100 (those places are left out of the race). A count of recorded crime is not a verdict on any neighborhood.
