Places we left out, and places to read with care

Left out: Mt Pleasant Park. They have almost no residents: their crimes are against visitors, so a rate per resident says little about living there.

Taylor Heights (2.8 per 1,000 from 1 crime among 360 residents), Morgan Park (3.9 per 1,000 from 2 crimes among 508 residents), Overlea (2.7 per 1,000 from 2 crimes among 739 residents), Stonewood-Pentwood-Winston (10.7 per 1,000 from 12 crimes among 1,126 residents), Woodbourne Heights (21.8 per 1,000 from 28 crimes among 1,283 residents), Rosemont East (8.5 per 1,000 from 13 crimes among 1,523 residents), Morgan State University (4.6 per 1,000 from 7 crimes among 1,532 residents), Hillen (15.5 per 1,000 from 33 crimes among 2,134 residents), Ramblewood (6.3 per 1,000 from 14 crimes among 2,214 residents), Cedmont (12.5 per 1,000 from 29 crimes among 2,324 residents), Perring Loch (11.8 per 1,000 from 28 crimes among 2,378 residents) and Idlewood (7.6 per 1,000 from 19 crimes among 2,487 residents) are places with few residents (under 3,000): a rate on so few people says little about living there, so they are not named as the lowest or highest.

Rates are recorded crimes per 1,000 residents, quarter by quarter; where a neighborhood has fewer than 100 residents the rate would be worked out on 100 (those places are left out of the race). A count of recorded crime is not a verdict on any neighborhood.
