Reported Safety Incidents

In Q2 2026: violent incidents were 38% (5,033), property incidents were 34% (4,470), public order incidents were 23% (3,027) and vehicle crimes were 6% (762).

Recorded crime here is grouped into violent crime, property crime (burglary and theft), vehicle crime and public order offences, so you can compare how safe each neighbourhood is for the kind of crime that matters to you.

Read category comparisons with care. A category that jumps while the total hardly moves looks like a change in how offences are classified, not in what happened: Q1 2025: vehicle down 28% while the total moved 8%; Q2 2025: vehicle up 26% while the total moved 8%. The whole-area rate is the steadier guide.

Places we left out, and places to read with care

Left out: Bantam Grove; The Oval. They have almost no residents: their crimes are against visitors, so a rate per resident says little about living there.

Beechwood (132.3 per 1,000 from 25 crimes among 189 residents), Fearnville (88.3 per 1,000 from 28 crimes among 317 residents), Scott Hall (3.4 per 1,000 from 2 crimes among 594 residents), Morley (39.7 per 1,000 from 31 crimes among 781 residents), Lady Wood (33.6 per 1,000 from 35 crimes among 1,042 residents), Osmondthorpe (53.6 per 1,000 from 65 crimes among 1,212 residents), Hunslet Carr (45.9 per 1,000 from 120 crimes among 2,612 residents) and Potternewton (26.9 per 1,000 from 80 crimes among 2,978 residents) are places with few residents (under 3,000): a rate on so few people says little about living there, so they are not named as the lowest or highest.

Rates are recorded crimes per 1,000 residents, quarter by quarter; where a neighbourhood has fewer than 100 residents the rate would be worked out on 100 (those places are left out of the race). A count of recorded crime is not a verdict on any neighbourhood.
