Places we left out, and places to read with care
Left out: Acocks Green; Cannon Hill; Edgbaston; Newtown. They have almost no residents: their crimes are against visitors, so a rate per resident says little about living there.
Old Oscott (63.2 per 1,000 from 17 crimes among 269 residents), Kingstanding (34.5 per 1,000 from 22 crimes among 638 residents) and Northfield (26.7 per 1,000 from 62 crimes among 2,325 residents) are places with few residents (under 3,000): a rate on so few people says little about living there, so they are not named as the lowest or highest.
